More painting from me...and something for free...

First, this lovely Russian Postcard I bought off a New Zealand auction site called Trade Me. Isn't she a darling? If you would like a copy of her, just click on her and copy into your files.

Patu-paiarehe - the fairy of the redwood forest
Copyright, 2009, D.Price-Ewen

Next, thought I'd post another one of my paintings, this time one done in acrylic. This fey creature was spotted in the great redwood forest (called Lucy's Gully) close to Mount Taranaki on the East coast of the North Island of New Zealand. This is real LOTR country - where the fey ones hide out. Back in the mid to late 19th century, the British and European fairies followed many immigrating families across the sea to colonize New Zealand. It is my belief that they have crossbred with the Patu-paiarehe, the Maori fairies...and what you are looking at here is just such a hybrid!

I am familiar with Lucy's Gully being a 'rehomed' Taranakian. It's nice to see it pop up here and yes the trees look just like that! So tall and majestic. I missed the mystical creatures though...maybe they're camera shy?

Well hello Alicia and Lisa - thanks for your comments. Yes Lisa, I was wondering when you would rock on by and realise that your hometown was on my new posting. I love Taranaki - it's probably where I'm going to retire.

Beautiful painting.
Your fairy is magical in her enchanting surroundings.
There is lightness and movement in there - she looks ready to take flight and sprinkle her fairy dust!
